While Sofitel in Siem Reap (Cambodia) were looking for their next full time graphic designer I’ve made a creative concept of a tapas menu.
Menu
This is the only work I have done for this client. Indeed, Sofitel has its own graphic designer that can respond to their daily needs. Still, it was an interesting short project. I’ve never done any tapas menu before. The client sent me few photos of their tapas. Then I completed the assets I needed with the use of some free images website like for exemple pexels.com. Their requirement was to have a chalkboard background for the writing and the tapas should be displayed on wooden board.
For the titles, I’ve selected a font which had the following : hand writing style, round and friendly, thick. It fitted very well the dark background and was easy to read. To enhance the texture effect, I’ve erased as randomly as possible some part of the writing and the frame. That’s what is graphic design : creating texture, managing colors and styles, ahah. Yes, I have not much to say about this project.
Once the background and titles were done, I worked on the wooden boards. In contrast with the black and white background, the food must be colorful and look delicious. I didn’t have the final images of course but even with those temporary assets, I could make that concept tapas menu decent enough to present to the client.
They might have use my concept tapas menu design, I have no idea unless I’d go for a tapas night in Sofitel one day. At least, I hope they used some part of what I’ve done. I liked it and I think they seemed satisfied with it as well.
